"She has no control over the ball right now."

David Steele of the Baltimore Sun talking to Gary Gilchrist, Michelle Wie's former instructor:

"She needs to re-evaluate the team around here ... [and] she needs to be more clear on what her goals are and the steps she needs to get to them," Gilchrist said. "And make sure everybody around her understands them. Right now with the way she's swinging, it's very difficult for her to play well. She has no control over the ball right now."

What credibility does he have? Oh, right, he teaches Suzann Pettersen who just won the LPGA Championship and nearly won the season's first major.

If she has "no control over the ball," then I have no idea what it is I do with a golf clubs and balls. I think she has no control over herself right now...and by that I mean her "people" are running her life.

Does this sound possible? A few days ago some guy said he saw Michelle Wie about two weeks ago at Lost Canyons in Simi Valley. She was on the range with an instructor, I assume her new one. After a period of time of instruction she pulled out a checkbook and wrote him a check.

If BJ and the crew insist on MW playing in the John Deere, I could see Ledbetter firing himself as her instructor.

Maybe she needs to hire Todd Pletcher as a coach.

If he can train the first filly in over 100 years to beat the boys at Belmont Park, maybe he can get Michelle over the hump.

As most have said or thought, this is a case-book study on how not to bring your child into the world of professional sports.

Michelle will have to learn how to be herself. I'm optimistic that she will, and become a great player.

A lot of knocks along the way, but that's life.
