Rory Answers The President's Call!

No Laying Up podcast co-host Rory McIlroy reports to NLU that he teed up with President Donald Trump Sunday.

McIlroy expedited his return to play a week early for the Trump International round that also included ISM agent Nick Mullen and Trump friend Rich Levine. More intriguing than the President is the golf with Mullen, who works for the agency that first represented McIlroy (photo on right is not the full foursome).

Score was not kept but McIlroy said the President played well:

“He probably shot around 80. He’s a decent player for a guy in his 70’s!”

The White House initially said the President only played a few holes, then clarified that it turned into a full round, reports the AP's Catherine Lucey.

What the hell is in it for these golfers to play with Trump? In each case we have recently heard about, the player is not American, Can he not find a partner out of that shower of Republicans? But as with Els, I find the association distasteful and the motives obscure, despite the fact that both players are doubtless quite conservative as they assume that's what saves them paying taxes. But there is more to Trump than his loony economics. That two well-admired players can let themselves be associated with this racist, sexist, xenophobic purveyor of the alternative fact (what did happen "last night in Sweden?" Tim Rice, I smell a revival of an old tune) defies understanding.

What it must be to go through life without a single flattering photograph of yourself.

V.Lind, you need to look past Trump - he's just the guy who is the centre of the media's attention. Whilst he fiddles and the press listen, his associates are burning down the city. Classic flypaper strategy.

Speechless. This is not going to end well...

Looks like nice a day for golf, I hope they had fun.
Why do the lefties always have to drag politics into it, lefties are never happy about anything, win, lose, sunshine, cloudy, never happy

Has anyone informed this Bozo that being President is a 7 day a week job? One month in and he's spent a quarter of that on holidays playing golf in Florida. Sad!

It's nice to see Rory fulfilling a child's dream through the Make a Wish Foundation. Good on ya, Rors!

Isn't that tired and lame "thumbs up" gesture designed to indicate that things are going well, when all the world can see that the inexperienced, thin-skinned, clueless non-reader has an overwhelmed Chief of Staff and Niccolo Machiavelli is actually running the show? And while the Tweeter-In-Chief tries to brag about negotiating "great deals," his regular weekend jaunts to Florida are costing we taxpayers a fortune:

Mark, as a lefty golfer, if I had a penny for every wingnut moron going off when Obama played golf I'd have more money than the Mango Mussolini so save your "fake" outrage hypocrite.

@Ben... probably not nearly as much as Prez Obama's trips to Hawaii.
02.20.2017 | Unregistered CommenterJupiter
@ben not an honest dealer. Never bothered by trips to Hawaii and Florida. He is unhinged over President Trump. President Obama deserved his vacations just like President Trump does. Costs of presidential vacations a rounding error.
02.20.2017 | Unregistered CommenterRors
What happened to the President and golfer-in-chief only playing golf to negotiate "good deals" for America? Unless Rory was recently appointed King of Ireland, Trump is now more of a hypocrite.

When the POTUS calls to use you as a prop to normalize his views and agenda you just have to say yes. Nothing political about it. Good for Rory.

I'm moderate, but if I were left I'd be encouraging Trump to play as much golf as possible. Less time to screw things up.

Kinda disappointed in Rory, but maybe it was worthwhile if he made Trump aware of how complicated international politics can be. Rory's situation regarding which country to represent at the Olympics would be unwinnable, even for -- one supposes -- the Dealer in Chief.

Forget about left and right. Can you name callers not recognize insanity?

As to golf, word is he's been out 6 times or 20-25 % of the days he has been in office.

We have not had a good president this century. Let's all be honest.

Bush was absent more than any president in history, and the banks, 911,the fake war''reasons, were all under his ''watch.

Obama inherited a to of issues, and did pretty well the hand he was dealt.

Trump, like Bush, was not legally elected, and is proving to be insane- not for his ''politics'', but the man is actually insane. One needs to realize that a 70 year old man playing golf 2 days in a row will probably need a full day of restt/recovery, so between off 1/2 on Friday travelingf, and resting all day Monday, he is working 50% of the time- not even a 24/7 or a 5/8 guy. Forget about draining the swamp- how about stopping the iflow filling it up.

And the wall is Trump's Folly- he has never even seen the frigging border. Keep that crap out of Texas. They cant' even man the airports properly.
02.20.2017 | Unregistered Commenterdigsouth
Hey digs I turned 70 last month and continue to play golf walking Monday to Friday and don't need a break but do feel creaky on my days off - the weekend. And a month's holiiday this month in Adelaide. .No golf but enjoyed watching the lLadies at the Aussie Open Cheers.
I'm not sure, Digs. I heard him say today upon introducing his newest general -- a quality soldier and intellect, by early reports -- that he had been working very hard this weekend. Even reading! Obviously a superior specimen to handle all he's got going on. Frickin best we've ever had. Just hope he's not the last....

Rors well said but maybe instead of spending time here I suggest to head over to Wikipedia and read about Hitler and the Lugenpresse. You might learn a little something about Donald's MO. And while your at it donnys relationship to Roy Cohn is interesting too. Or you could read about Trumps fathers RE co and its history of housing discrimination in the 70s. Or the time Donny pretended to be his own PR agent claiming to the ny tabloids that he was dating Carla Bruni. Her reaction ha "he's a lunatic". Or delve deeper and try to figure out why no US bank will loan him money, and why his son said several years ago that a large percentage of money is coming from Russia! Oh but never mind it's all fake news. Lugenpresse.

Colin Mc

I'm 67, and with health issues, I look great, but I owe it all to salt and vinegar, I don't worry, and I forgive- not wanting to be burdened down with any hate.

So once I get a bit more one, another surgery, was supposed to be on Thursday, but I am very anemic, and it was postponed. pfft! Anyway I hope to play 2 times a week.

I am too much in pain to be able to go like you, and arthritus (sp) has invaded me in the last couple of years. It's always something!

Here is to your health, Colin. Cheers, Yall.

Pasaplayer- H scares me to death. I know his type- looks good when you see him, but is in bed or a hot shower when you don't. Look at that ''Doctor report'' -- it is like his tax returns -bullshit non existent.

Peace & prosperity, Pasaplayer and pronto!

The guy has not even been on the job for barely 30 days and he's playing golf every weekend. If you think this is ok then you are either ignorant or just a douche. Really righties stop puttin party over country. You are the highly unprincipled and it's just sad. I can't think of a more pathetic group of losers white rich and republican. Sorry your party is full of complete jack offs. even Reagan and bush were never so slimy.

I guess that some folks on here don't realize that with "modern" technology; i.e. cell phones, computers, etc, etc. that many of us can perform our jobs without actually being in our offices... even from the golf course? He's not building hard goods for a living, he's communicating and making decisions. The President, whomever it may be at any given time, can perform their duties from anywhere in the world and in any setting. For God's sake we're not back in Jefferson's time when it took weeks to get information back and forth before decisions could be made. I sure don't recall all of this when Obama was vacationing for weeks at a time.

I not a huge Trump fan by any means but given the choices that we had I still believe that we're in better hands with him than we would have been with Hillary who proved many times over that you couldn't believe anything that she said. Let's give him a chance and you can go to the polls in 4 years and vote against him if you're not happy with the direction he's taking our great country.

I sure wish this site could stay focused on golf. So much more fun to pick on Tiger!

Jeez what a left-wing shithole this comments section has become. With so many Euros chirping away, not surprising I guess. Hey guys, he ain't your President, you don't have a vote (even though you think you deserve one) and you never will. You're powerless. I think the real question going forward is security for the 2018 Ryder Cup. With France imploding and Britain not far behind, can the Euros guarantee any level of safety? I don't think so. Look for the event to be cancelled.
02.21.2017 | Unregistered CommenterScott
While many of you may know this... President Trump's golf club in question here is on the Jupiter / Palm Beach Gardens boarder. So many PGA Tour players live in the immediate area (I believe more than in any other area) it's a no brainer that we'll more of them on the course with him over the next few years. Get used to it and please... please... stop the whining.
02.21.2017 | Unregistered CommenterJupiter
@wookie: Yes, that's non-fake news. We do have drug-related crime and the occasional rioting in our big city suburbs populated by the poorest citizens who invariably are first or second generation immigrants. Surprised? But there are still fewer murders in our entire country each year than in the COUNTY in which Trump held his "last night in Sweden" speech.
02.21.2017 | Unregistered CommenterHawkeye
Hawkeye, care to reveal your source? This should be fun.
02.21.2017 | Unregistered CommenterScott
Yet another misstep from Rory. He needs to get back to the weight room so he can insure there's one less foreigner taking American golf jobs.
02.21.2017 | Unregistered CommenterDrBunsenHoneydew
@Scott: the only Ryder Cup to have been cancelled was 2001, which was due to...ummm...security issues in the US. The Ryder Cup was in Britain -- but the gutless Americans declined to fly and made up some stories about how they should not be playing golf while the nation mourned. This despite flying to US events and, yes, playing golf a lot closer to the security crises than England. Despite the President telling people to get back to work, else the terrorists ("tairists") win. Despite the fact that playing for their country would have given them a good platform to show America with its head held high. And if you do not know the empathetic welcome the players would have received in England, you know nothing.

Yes, Europe has had its share from the aggressors too. And, like (the rest of) America, coped and gone on. Europe also does not have the aggravator-in-chief annoying the baddies with practically every utterance. Bans on a religious group, the one-state solution -- what next?

The Boston Marathon went on despite...nightclubs are still open. The Ryder Cup will take place at Golf National and if the Americans lucky enough to make the team have the guts, and the palates, they can eat great food in Paris. If they are the usual shower who make rare forays overseas, they will have a McDonald's in the team room.
02.21.2017 | Unregistered CommenterV.Lind
@Scott: My source is former Swedish prime minister Carl Bildt (conservative): "Last year there were app 50% more murders only in Orlando/Orange [...] than in all of Sweden. Bad." You can check his Twitter feed for verification if you like. Or maybe you don't consider a foreign politician a credible source.
02.21.2017 | Unregistered CommenterHawkeye
Ah, V Lind with his daily anti-American wall of text. You're such a treasure. What happened to you, did a Yank sailor on liberty promise to marry you and then leave you on the altar?

Hawkeye, you're gonna have to do better than quote some politician. I don't care whether he's foreign or not, I just try to deal in facts. I think you're digging quite a hole for yourself, especially considering Trump's speech was in Brevard County, not Orange.
02.21.2017 | Unregistered CommenterScott
When did this site turn into the Huffington Post? Show some of that fancy, respectful etiquette golfers are known for. And while you're at it, stop complaining about the condition of the sand in the bunkers...You mis-hit your shot. Deal with it!
02.21.2017 | Unregistered CommenterOurBall
@Scott: Let's go to numbers and let's go national, then. The homicide rate is over 400% higher in the US than in Sweden (3,9 out of 100.000 compared to 0,9). We've had zero school shootings and zero terrorist attacks with deadly outcome (we had one six years ago, but the dude only blew himself up). Sweden is not paradise, but when your president wants to use us as a bad example, I get offended.
02.21.2017 | Unregistered CommenterHawkeye
Don't take it personally, Hawkeye, it's just Trump following orders from Putin to assist with destabilizing Sweden. Puppets can't be blamed when the master pulls the strings.
