Fun Times: Vijay v. PGA Tour Discovery Heating Up!

We had some idea where Vijay Singh's legal team was headed in their lawsuit against the PGA Tour earlier this month, and now Rex Hoggard says the discovery requests have begun.

And you'll be shocked to know they are not requesting the recipe for TPC Sawgrass' turkey dressing.

Singh’s lawyers requested any information “related to any positive tests by any golfer for any substance listed as a banned substance under the program, (and) any discipline imposed,” specifically anything related to a “possible or actual violation of the program” by Doug Barron, Mark Calcavecchia, Scott Verplank, Dustin Johnson and Matt Every.

In other words, a settlement check is right around the corner!

And KG, I have copies of the PGA Tour doping manuals and none of the words *deer* or *antler* or "velvet* appear anywhere in those manuals in any context.

This is real amateur hour stuff by the PGA Tour.

Gents,
So much of it was mishandled. Even last year several bodies were doubting IGF could be ingested orally. Appears several in the sports world were examining the claims made about deer antler spray. This should have been known to the Tours' head of the drug enforcement, that's just professionalism.
That Vijay, according to his legal filing had to take the initiative to send the product for testing was completely unnecessary.
WADA only warned that if Antler Spray contains IGF, it could lead to a positive test. It was a warning, not a ban. So he should not have been suspended at all until the facts were known. At the very least they should have known they did not have all the facts.

As usual Geoff, you're spot on with your last comment, "in other words, a settlement check is right around the corner!" There's no way the Tour is going to release that information and under the rules of discovery they're required to do so. The only way they get out of it is by settling.
