Brandel: Tiger's Practicing Diligently, Don't Rule Out Masters

The Golf Channel's pre-Masters teleconference call included this from Brandel Chamblee, writes G.C. Digital fresh from a two-week tour of Myrtle Beach's best courses.

G.C. writes:

“If you can believe anything that you read on social media – I know that his coach has been down there, and they’ve been hitting a lot of golf balls down in Palm Beach. The way I understand it, he’s been practicing quite diligently. So it wouldn’t surprise me if Tiger showed up at Augusta National.”

For his part, Montgomerie said that if Woods does show up, he hopes fans don’t see the 14-time major champ bowing out after “77-78 and going home from there.”

Isn't eachway betting kind've of scam when you don't actually have the horse winning the event? I mean, wouldn't a top 10/20 be a better use of bankroll on a "long shot"? Or maybe a straight W bet (at 1/5th regular unit size or similar) coupled with a straight top 20? The 20 would usually at least triple the loss of the W (if/when the W doesn't come in).

As I mentioned in my previous post ... there are a lot of wager types to choose from (in regards to Tiger). For example, the 6-1 payout at last years US Open on Rory missing the cut.

I'll put three bucks on Tiger if I can get 1 Million-1 odds from a reputable establishment.

Yes, Confused, in each way you are making two bets, so it's not a good play if you see zero probability of a win. In Charley's case, he went off in the next to last group with Phil on Sunday in 2015, so theoretically there is some non-zero probability of a win. Not a great big chance, but how much are you looking for at 150-1?

But it's really how you like a guys top 5, top 10 chances vs other possibilities that would drive things. And yes, there are a lot of ways to use any player you like well short of winning.
