obviously the USGA knows the guy and he has a long history with Walker Cup, etc...

...cannot believe they dissed him like that.

I like to keep a card in my money clip with the word "discretion" and the corresponding definition all written on it -- and hand it to bozo's to study up on when they make boneheaded decisions like this one.

Yeah, what Eric said. What is it with the USGA? Never mind. Dace Fackel (aka David Fay) obviously has an answer. I don't know how many alternates were on site this week, but to not let them play the course on Monday-Wednesday is absurd, given that several of them are very likely to get in the championship.
