Greg And Chrissy To Discuss PGA Championship Appearance Over Dinner

For the sake of golf fans in Detroit, they might want to hope it's a really good bottle of red. Because a PGA appearance would be four weeks in a row, and following four days (presumably) at The Broadmoor/altitude, so I'm going to guess Greg Norman is going to decline the PGA of America's invite to tee it up at Oakland Hills, especially reading his comments about all of his injury issues.

He may not look like an old man, but he's starting to talk like one.

I saw that story in the Detroit papers, and more than anything, I was a little stunned that the PGA was so casual about special exemptions under what I can only understand is the "P.T. Barnum" theory of conducting national championships.

I'm not sure I care what it is that Greg and Chrissie decide; I just hope that they make up their minds fast enough so that the special PGA Championship invitations can quickly go out to Michelle Wie, Tad Fujikawa, Charles Barkley and trick shot artist Chuck "The Hit Man" Hiter if it turns out that Norman won't play...

Is this anything other than a marketing embarassment for the PGA of America?

Who would be knocked out if Norman gets in? The 125th ranked player in the world? Not a travesty, but a little questionable...Event is probably pre-sold (out) but this would add some buzz to the first day or two...Norman might resent being "used'' in such a fashion, and would surely decline if it were the PGA Tour...be interesting...doubt he'll be much of a factor at Oakland Hills if he accepts.

Bah, the guy finished T3 at the British Open. That earns an invite in my book. C'mon, Charles Barkley vs. T3 at the British Open? Yeah, that's the same thing Chuck.

With decades of swinging a golf club and following the sun, these guys look and feel twenty years older than they are.

I understand that Greg has decided not to play in the PGA because he wants to concentrate on qualifying for the Ryder Cup team since he is, with his 3rd place finish at the Open and marriage to Crissy Evert, evidently now the hottest player in the world.

He earned an invite to the PGA, I agree with Erik.

The amount of negative, snarky, sarcastic, often cruel ink Greg Norman has gotten in his life outnumbers the decent, honest stuff by, oh, 10,000:1, I'd guess.

I understand why he gets it, and I don't want to be an apologist for a billionaire - I guess it's the cost of doing business, at least the way he does it.

But let's just say that I think the guy gets an undeserved bum rap every now and then.

Greg Norman Estates will be on the table for sure.

I am nauseated by the hypoCHRISSY of Greg & Chrissy. Wasn't she married to Greg's supposedly best friend for a long time? Weren't she & Greg having an affair behind the friend's back? I am glad he folded again with the 54 hole lead. Hard to cheer for a jerk and a scumbag like that.
