Woods Makes Startling Admission: He Actually Watched The PGA

Mark Lamport-Stokes reports on Tiger's latest web site letter, where he reveals that he's not planning to swing a club until after the new year.

"As far as swinging a club, that's not going to happen until next year," Woods said in his monthly newsletter on Tuesday. "I just don't have a choice.
"We simply don't know what type of swelling there would be or if there would be any residual effects the next day once you start wheeling and dealing on the knee. Everyone's body reacts differently. I could putt right now but I'm not going to do it."

And the remote is getting a workout:

While spending quality time at home with his Swedish wife Elin and young daughter Sam Alexis, Woods has been watching television coverage of the Olympic Games.
He also watched last week's U.S. PGA Championship at Oakland Hills where Ireland's Padraig Harrington won his second successive major title.

why is this newsworthy?

Because he is Tiger Woods.

Without him, they may as well call the entire thing the Nationwide Tour and put it on the GolfChannel.

He is the industry.

Nice. A blog points out, "Mark Lamport-Stokes REPORTS on Tiger's latest web site letter..."

On my latest blog I "report" on something someone heard someone say to a friend of a friend by way of an anonymous source.

Keep up the great "work."

"Speaking from the fantail of his yacht, 'Privacy,' Woods mentioned that he particularly enjoyed the Saturday CBS broadcast."

He probably wanted to see "Tweety Bird" get bludgeoned again.

Al: Tiger Woods did not invent the game of golf and golf will not disappear when Tiger is gone. Someone other than Woods has won 70% of the majors Woods has played in since truning pro.

It's newsworthy because of the other messages coming out from the compound that concern his knee.

His recovery schedule for a "routine ACL" is about 5 deviations above the mean for anyone who is interested. Tiger's return shall be "interesting".

And I for one have found professional golf interesting again since mid June. So sue me. :-)

What are the chances that Tiger Woods saw the final round and started losing hair( more hair) at the thought of seeing a worthy challenger from the crowd of the 'next best golfers'. Hmm, while I seriously doubt such a scenario it would not be unfair to consider that Harrington might be the man who might give Woods a run for his money. While I write this, I know it probably is not true but there is no harm in hoping for better competitive days ahead where Woods might finally be challenged. Writers like us forever live in the hope of a fascinating duel for we have now run out of words to describe the great Tiger. So when faced with the delicious thought of a man armed with the tools to give Tiger a run for his money we clasp our hands together with a look of joy and great hope.

Whether he delivers on this promise, waits to be seen but there is no better hope in sight and we will do all that we can to will him on to take the mantle of the challenger. Till then we can stop branding every new startup, talented, just turned professionals as the new woods. We will just live with the thought of competition on the course once Woods returns.

Must be on the steroids again.
