Golf Magazine's Rankings Now Posted

The world list is here, the U.S. list is here.

Good to see the courses dropping off the world list this time: Wentworth, East Lake, Congressional and Shadow Creek.

I think the US and A's world standing just improved a whole bunch! Good going Golf Magazine Panel!

It's nice to see Willie Park. Jnr's 1901 design of Sunningdale (Old) is hanging in there at #33 in the world and only a couple places behind Royal Birkdale for #1 in England and is also #10 in all of Europe. Wow...

He designed our course in Maryland and golf course architects often call to visit this 6,200 yard gem. I think it scored well in the Golf Digest reviews also.

Only five new courses, and one, Valley Club, that I know has been on the list before.

Vince what course is that? He designed the back 9 of a course I used to work at as a teenager in Western PA (Youghiogheny CC).

Any ranking that puts PacDunes ahead of Ballybunion and only one slot behind Dornoch is not worth its headline, IMHO. But the controversy is no doubt what makes these rankings so popular.

Let alone places Chambers Bay anywhere in the Top 100. Ugh. I should have finished the entire list before posting my initial comment.

It would be wonderful to put the top ten on my bucket list. Looks like some fabulous scenery and great places to challenge the best of golfers.

Coore & Crenshaw are getting a lot of love on these lists. I've yet to play one of their courses, but I still hold hopes of playing the course at Notre Dame on a football weekend.

OWGR Fan,

The course is Rolling Road Golf Club in Catonsville, about 7 miles south of Baltimore. We opened with tennis in 1919, the year Willie designed the course. I am told it was designed in one day, but I don't know that for a fact. We have been used by the USGA for various qualifiers and their Far Hills, N.J. staff enjoy helping us with various situations (turf, bunker renovations, etc.)
