Uh Oh, Lee Westwood Caught Talking About Lee Westwood

The dreaded third person self references reared as he discussed sticking with the European Tour.

"I don't want to be dictated to by having to go to America to play FedEx Cup when it doesn't really mean that much to me," said the 37-year-old. "It doesn't mean enough to me anyway.

"I think they (the PGA Tour) would like me to go and be a member there, but as of Monday evening I became an individual again and I do what's right for Lee Westwood now."

Good for Lee, the European Tour is a great tour imo and it needs support from top players in order to maintain or grow its stature. I am disappointed In McDowell to a degree by "chasing" the money. Sure there are some very good events on the PGA Tour but it seems to me that supporting the European Tour would be more important. I would actually like to see many of the "also rans" of the PGA Tour head over to the Euro Tour but I do understand how difficult it is being away from family etc.

Both tours are basically traveling exhibitions, like Stars on Ice. Just show up, 'compete' and collect your pay. Just remember to compete (without quotes) at the Majors and Ryder Cup and the rest is gravy.

Put another way, Lee Westwood has decided to leave the WWF for the WCW. He'll make less money, be on a worse network and be the biggest 'star' by default. It's a good decision for him.

why shouldn't lee westwood do what's best for lee westwood? does anyone really think that finchem and the 47 vps give a toss about what's good for lee westwood?

Good for Lee doing what he feels is best for him. Isn't that we all aspire to do? He will still play for quite the sum of money in the Race to Dubai on the Euro Tour and whatever appearance fees he can get on the Euro Tour.

Good. I prefer watching the Euro tour to the U.S. Tour. I don't understand why more Americans don't play there. Just my opinion.

What's good for Lee Westwood is good for Lee Westwood.

JerryG, I so agree. The Euro Tour is much better, the announcers/commentators are much better (Renton Laidlaw is wonderful), the courses are more interesting, the weather is more interesting, and of course they go to culturally diverse venues. And the players have so much more personality. The Mechanic!!!!! Gotta love him, cigars, fine wine, great food, Ferraris, the hair etc. I understand why more Amercians don't play over there though. It is hard. I think Bob May did it a few years ago, Todd Hamilton this year, a few others. Hard to be away from the family, it is tough to travel to different countries, you can't go home for a week. I read Michael Bambergers book "To the Linksland" and what an awesome book/journey. If I had any courage I would love to do that, what an experience.

Jimmy doesn't like the Fed Ex Cup. Jimmy is fine where Jimmy is.
