Tough love from Bob Harig after Phil Mickelson finished right before play was suspended.

Lefty's disposition did not become much better when he was talking to reporters after his round Friday and heard the announcement that play had been suspended due to high winds -- meaning those on the course were getting a break from the bad weather, or so it seemed.

"I'm happy for those guys," Mickelson said in full sarcasm mode. "That's great."

Weather is almost never a factor in suspending play at the Open due to the excellent drainage capabilities of sand-based links courses and a lack of thunderstorms.

this really surprised me. phil's been at this an awful long time to get worked up about weather and the draw, hasn't he?

I dunno, thusgone, this seems consistent with my impression of Phil. I don't think he likes the randomness that can play at the Open.

Probably just frustrated... playing out in the elements will do that to a player.

I can see being a little pissy if you think the guys who got the good draw yesterday are getting respite today. Golf isn't meant to be fair, and these guys know that, but it is human nature to gripe a little when life gives you some stick.

We all like to think that these guys should embrace quirk, roll with the rub of the green, etc., but I think that is a tall order when you play for keeps, every week.

Phil's really gotta get his head straighened out...frankly, given all that he has going on I think he should take the rest of the year off and come back next year.
