"That would be on The Presidents Cup."

I scoured some of the early stories about media day at Medinah to read about the golf course, but according to AP's Nancy Armour, Mother Nature spared everyone involved from having to spin the reportedly awful conditions at next year's Ryder Cup host.

There was, however, this epic and stunningly relentless rally killer/point misser from the Captain's press conference.

Q. With the proliferation of Asian players playing in the regular tournaments, what are the chances that some of them will be included with either the European or the U.S. Teams, and how are they selected?

DAVIS LOVE III: What was the question?

Q. With a lot of the Asian players playing right now, with the presence of a lot of Asian players, how would they be included in The Ryder Cup being the U.S., European --

DAVIS LOVE III: That would be on The Presidents Cup.

JOSÉ MARIA OLAZÁBAL: Correct. They cannot be playing The Ryder Cup unless you are U.S.-born.

DAVIS LOVE III: You have to be a U.S. citizen.

Q. Is it based on residency or skill and how long they have been playing the circuit?

DAVIS LOVE III: The country you're a resident of; so they would be in The Presidents Cup team, or the rest of the world (International)team.

It's nice to see the men discussing one of the most important issue's in the women's game.

sorry, issues

If I was going to ask a question at a press conference, I'd try to - you know - do some homework and try to actually know something about the topic.

Or Geoff....maybe the conditions aren't as awful as rumored?

I, for one, was looking forward to getting people out there...to finally put to bed the rumors. It has three tough fairways and one green that is certainly playable but hasn't fully recovered.

Any chance we get the reporter's name? Elling? Shipnuck?
So let me get this straight. According to Davis Love, the Americans are the Presidents Cup team.

Oh, please. We need to know the reporter's name. No matter how embarassing, it cannot be a secret. It was a press conference. On the record. And the person in question was a real, live member of the press.
Please, somebody tell us.

And Geoff; I beg your pardon, but "debacle" is, I think, a better descriptive than "rally killer," You've quite rightly given us a long tutorial on what really are some wonderful examples of "rally killers." It would be giving this incident too much credit, to term it a "rally killer."

Haha, Ghost of Tom Joad,. I was going to say Wei too, even though she's a lot nicer to look at than the rest of her Fourth Estate collegues.
