DJ On Vijay: "He’s in trouble, not me."

Jason Sobel talks to Dustin Johnson about a variety of issues, including fiance Paulina Gretzky and his name coming up in the lawsuit filings by Vijay Singh's attorney.

From Sobel's story:

A: There’s nothing I can really say. I don’t know why he would call me out. Obviously, he’s in a situation where he’s looking to better himself somehow, but there’s nothing there.

Q: Have you ever been punished or reprimanded for any kind of violation?

A: No.

Q: Does it anger you to see your name in connection with that story?

A: Not really. I don’t care. He’s in trouble, not me.

I suspect VJ's next trip to a US locker room is going to be pretty silent and chilly, if they aren't already. What an utterly classless and shortsighted stunt. A stunt which was not reasonably calculated to succeed.

For somebody who hasn't always distinguished himself with insightful thought, that's a pretty good dead pan answer by DJ.

I agree with Djs point but vijay is not in trouble
He's in this lawsuit by choice, and at his command his lawyers are throwing others under the bus

I think Dustin has displayed why his nickname among the other players on tour is "simple jack." (the character from a skit or movie)
He is clueless about the situation, VJ is not in 'trouble.' He sounds like a twelve year old talking about a classmate being called to the principle's office.

If VJ's lawyers didn't know for a fact that certain guys has been involved in situations with banned substances before they asked for the files, that is a big mistake. Obviously.

DJ is not the sharpest tool in the shed - the guy suing the Tour is not "in trouble," rather he's out for blood. That your name is mentioned spells trouble, at the very least, for DJ.

As for Vijay "throwing" anyone "under the bus," what bus would that be? The bus of "Tested Positive but the Tour Kept It Quiet" bus?

Anyone run over by that bus can't blame anyone else but themselves, or the shady trainer who told them they were "vitamin creams."

Someone else testing positive is not Vijay's fault - it's the very point he's trying to make.

Sobel was fishing, DJ would not take the bait. Well played.
If PEDs worked in golf who could be the one or two with the NFL sized finger pointing directly at them?

I think yall are barking up he wrong tree, err, plant.

It would seem from my purely imagined place that say DJ herbed up, was positive, and no sanction was issued. DJ's thoughts,''No problems for me- say are you gonna eat those Cheetos?''

I might think that Vijay's next trip to the lockerroom will come with more respect. He is the one standing up to the PV Mafia. Vijay is more respected in the "lockerroom" than many on this blog might think. Spend some real time inside the inner circle. Press like to pick on Peck's Bad Boy, but he not a bad guy. His party during TPC week is a "Must Have Ticket".......no one wants not to be invited.

It will be very interesting what maneuvers the TOUR will try and implement. Policies must be enforced fair and equitably, and without prejudice. I think that is the point trying to be made here by the lawsuit.

DJ? Good player, but certainly not Summa Cum Laude. Even from Coastal Carolina.
"Policies must be enforced fair and equitably, and without prejudice. I think that is the point trying to be made here by the lawsuit."

Bingo!

The Communish seems to think doing the opposite is ok...

In some photos, DJ looks a lot like a younger Wayne Gretzky. That's all I'm saying

The words"punished or reprimanded " might not be the correct term to us if a player tests positive for a substance that leads the tour to suggest he get treatment & not play during that time. Substances used to get high are different than those taken to enhance performance.

I saw DJ on Japan's Golf Network a couple of years ago - he had done an apparently uncoached blurb for them - you know, something like "You're watching the best players on Golf Network". But he came across more like "Mongo LIKE candy!"

(What beautiful children DJ and Paulina will have. Beautiful, stupid children.)

digs, are you suggesting that DJ tested positive (presumably for MJ) but the Tour didn't even tell him? Wouldn't they at least give him a warning in the hope that he'd stop before his fiancee posts an embarrassing pic on Flickr?

Vijay may be fishing, but Sobel is only trawling (for a fight). But some of you guys probably know better about Vijay, and about Tour enforcement.
get a look at that pic - and that's the young years.

rode hard and put away wet...

@Chuck," What beautiful children DJ and Paulina will have. Beautiful, stupid children." Why the mean comment on two people who you obviously don't know? Do you have some way of knowing what their children will look like or how smart they will be? For someone who has told other posters how immature they are I would say you just outdid them. Go play Tanyard.
Wowser, she looks pretty good to me. Guess you like em to look like Betty Lou from Mayberry RFD???
12.5.2013 | Unregistered CommenterBernie Senita
I am trying to understand why everyone just assumes that Vijay is being treated unfairly compared to other players. The only comparable that is out there is the Calc situation, where he supposedly got a warning vs. a suspension. But in Vijay's case, the tour specifically issued a warning to all players to watch out for this stuff, and he ignored that. So is that comparable ? Baron was suspended. But everyone here believes that Vijay is being persecuted - why would they ? He is one of the biggest stars of the past 20 years, a guy who still draws galleries and presumably at least a bit of interest from the fans. People have said here and elsewhere that he actually is fairly well liked among the players (see the thing about his party above). Other than Calc, is there one public case of a guy who tested positive and got a pass on it ? DJ missed a bunch of time last year, was he suspended ? If so, doesn't seem like he got off easy. As far as publicity, Vijay brought this on himself by declaring in an interview that he used a banned substance (even if it was subsequently determined to be not banned) as opposed to a situation where he quietly failed a drug test and vanished for a few months.

"Guess you like em to look like Betty Lou from Mayberry RFD???"

No, Bernie Senita, I prefer my blondes natural, without 50's-era mascara and who haven't been tackled by half the league - or does cheap and tramp do it for you? Different strokes for different folks, but at least she's keeping her clothes on now as a "respectable woman." Blech
12.5.2013 | Unregistered Commenterwowser
Chuck, think about something stronger than MJ. That's all I can say. Fred
12.5.2013 | Unregistered CommenterFred Jones
It's 2013 Wowser, 50's mascara is actually in. I realize that's not how Mrs. Cunningham and Edith Bunker looked but it is preferred by many in this day and age. I'm interested to know, where did you get the information on her personal life. You almost sound like a disgruntled ex. Is that it Wowser?
12.5.2013 | Unregistered CommenterBernie Senita

Chuck- yes, or thy did tell him and he forgot....:) It happens.
12.5.2013 | Unregistered Commenterdigsouth
'disgruntled ex'?

Bernie Senita, you need to get out more. This girl is the daughter of the greatest hockey player ever, she's not the girl next door - if you don't know the information already on her personal life, then you're probably the one guy over 20 who does not. You can't get away from it - but then, YOU wouldn't be trying, would you?

Perhaps golf is the only sport where the news of the engagement wasn't met with howls of laughter and comments along the lines of "well, at least he's marrying up..."

I imagine if I made a comment about Amy Winehouse, you'd accuse me of wanting her too?

Really...
12.6.2013 | Unregistered Commenterwowser
@wowser - "can't away from it"?!? I'm over 20yo and I've managed to do so (probably by not reading 'People', not watching 'E! News Daily', not reading/watching 'TMZ' etc.). I couldn't reliably tell you how mnay Kardashians there are or who they're sleeping with, either.

That said, I also find the entire cast of 'Mayberry R.F.D', including Floyd the Barber, more attractive than the young lady in question.
12.6.2013 | Unregistered CommenterCarl Peterson
Just my opinion, but she is good looking, not ''cute'' and not ''beautuful'', and I think she is in a photograph with a less than ideal makeup setup.

I have seen pix where she is really a knock out, but this isn't one of them. I'm most impressed with he tiny waist, which is really accentuated by her height. A solid 8+.when she is dolled up.
12.6.2013 | Unregistered Commenterdigsouth
Wowser, sorry, I tend to want to get to know people before I judge them like you. Obviously you prefer to read gossip stuff and base your opinions on those. So if you found out your wife banged 20 guys before you would you call her "rode hard and put away wet"? Oh yea, that's right, you're the one guy in America who married a virgin. Keep dreamin' dude. And grow up and show respect, this girl has never done anything to you.
12.6.2013 | Unregistered CommenterBernie Senita
she's def an alpha puck-bunny, most born and bred hockey fans, who have spent a little time in arenas, can spot a "Team Bike" at 100yds or more...bless their (shallow) hearts.

She's a looker for sure and most likely an expert navigator of nightclubs and shopping districts the world over...but can she pull off her look the morning after a solid bender....without firing up the ole snowblower to apply makeup?
12.6.2013 | Unregistered Commenterjohnnnycz
Ah, Bernie Senita defending his night-time fantasy. How do you know I'm even married? If I were to marry, however, I would pick a mate a little less, shall we say, "traveled."

If I didn't have to see her splayed across the sports pages for the past couple of years, I wouldn't know who she was, but since she's a Kardashian in training, I don't feel the need to protect her "honor."

And so you're saying that you married or would marry a woman like her? Pity you...
12.6.2013 | Unregistered Commenterwowser
Carl Peterson, I almost forgot you - no, if you live in a city where hockey is played and popular you can NOT get away from seeing this lovely young lady sprawled across the lap of some jock or another. She's been embarrassing her father for years, but hey, what do you expect when you trade your hockey career in for a B-movie actress and a shotgun wedding?

I thought you golf guys are all about "family" and "values," or is that just when you're criticizing minorities?
12.6.2013 | Unregistered Commenterwowser
Wowser, I think the not being married is quite insightful. If you're waiting for a virgin or less "traveled" lady, Eve has already left. By the way, is it ok for guys to get around and test the waters but not women? I think I know the answer Ward Cleaver.
Chuck, there seems to be an army of men emerging to defend the fair damsel - tell me, when Kim K made her debut into notoriety, were you so defensive of comments made about her tartness?

I doubt it. She wasn't engaged to marry a star of your sport, was she? She dated football players, the horror!

DJ is known to have driven drunk, is reportedly fond of herbal remedies, and is engaged to marry a girl who's been passed around by more athletes than a can of fungal spray in the locker room - but since it's golf, we can't have scandalous behavior, so it's all ignored and we'll tut-tut the antics of others who haven't the breeding and class of the golf set.

Got it.

Oh, and I married very respectably, thank you. If you all think there's no room between virgin and whore, it's no wonder you're all opting for the latter.

There is some in-between, I just find it laughable that you all choose Paulina "Twitter-Tart" Gretzky to defend with wounded honor.

Hilarious, actually. But I'm still happily married and can happily point my daughters to a site where such gentlemen exist to defend defenseless tarts like Paulina.

Here, fellows - ENJOY!!

Wowser, you've really thought this whole thing out. Seem to have touched a nerve. I think most were just telling you to chill out and not be so mean to a girl you have never met and yet seem to know so well. As a man who claims to have daughters I am very surprised by your attitude. You should know that some girls get bad reps, regardless if they are true or not. I sure hope that doesn't happen to your daughters, I would hate to see how you would deal with it. I'll say a prayer for you wowser and close with this lesson you must have missed in school, "never judge a book by its cover".
