Day One '15 Presidents Cup Pairings Are Out & Will Remain Out!

Not quite the kick-off we were hoping for is it for Wednesday night's 10 pm PT start, is it?

Especially when the first match out may be the most intriguing? And they're playing a video game course. In the middle of the night. And all of the players get along.

Oh well! G.C. Digital with the day one foursomes matchups that left Bill Haas, Chris Kirk, Charl Schwartzel and Sangmoon Bae (!?) on the bench.

Because, why would anyone in Korea want to see him play on day one?

Maybe the camera noise will generate a little necessary controversy? Steve Elling explains.

All I had to do was look at the first two matchups to realize I'm rooting for The World this year.

Those who advocated a live TV show of the pairings announcement saying it would be so exciting should watch the ridiculously long silent pause before USA announced its third pairing. Can't imagine why it took so long, McGinley in GC studio couldn't either!!

"Steve DiMeglio in Korea on how the Jordan Spieth-Dustin Johnson foursomes pairing came about."

It came about because Speith didn't want to play with Patrick Reed.

At least they put Sangmoon Bae out first to kick off the matches in his homeland. What? He's not out first? And he's not even playing? I thought this was an exhibition?

I would think, for excitement's sake, that Jordan would be going out against Jason as often as possible.

Well, apparently, only I would think that.

Watched the announcement LIVE.... It was painful. US team had 5 people (FIVE!!) all huddled around to make the picks and it took then several minutes at times... very awkward.

Hard to imagine those guys would be away from the "team room" for so long. Although, rumor has it they were all eliminated in the every rounds of the night's ping pong festivities.

They can still cancel the event. They don't have to go through with it.

Frankly, after the 2003 debacle (which agonizingly gets twisted into some story over historic sportsmanship), this event jumped the shark and then promptly wipe out into the surrounding hay bales.

A couple of days ago, Nicklaus was on the Golf Channel being quoted "we didn't want to play the next day" - in my eyes, that statement cruicified the event for me.

My prediction, Bill Hass sinks the winning putt on Saturday, the American team goes on a soju bender around Gangnam, and then they finish one point up after Sunday.

I guess I'm going the other way on this event. Every time I have watched it (which has been every time) it has been fun to watch, the players don't get as much heat as at the RC, true, but maybe that heat is excessive - especially as it applies to the Euros. The USA press has slowly but surely bought into the idea that the RC is the be all and end all of golf. But fine, whatever, the Pres Cup has been fun, and I"m looking forward to hopefully an exciting weekend of staying up until 3 or whatever.

Geoff should repost that moment under "Great Moments in Golf on Television.''

Worst 'draw party' I have ever witnessed. Talk about a waste of time. Who paid for that air time?

Price and Haas both acted like they had zero idea who was on their own teams.........would rather see a blind draw, here are my pairings and the order they are going off, and vice versa. A whole bunch of drama over nothing.

And the opening ceremony was like an afternoon soap opera! Get on with it. It is a golf exhibition for gosh sakes.
