Torture Device: A Bubba Vine Whine That Will Haunt Us All

There are post-shot whines and then there are post-shot whines. Or Vines.

Poor Jerry Foltz gets dragged into this epic substitute for water-boarding from Bubba Watson during round one of the Hero World Challenge. Kudos to the PGA Tour for posting despite the difficulty of getting this mudball cry out of your head. Click on the upper-left audio off switch, but don't say I didn't warn you.

Mudball. In effing Bermuda. Still, not as bad as when Vijay complained of a mudball off the tee at Augusta's 16th...

As someone who plays on always over-watered tracks I can understand. In fact if you want to make a skilled golfer look like the rest of us mud will do the trick faster than anything. Why do you think they play lift clean and place so much? Who wants to watch this every other shot? Mud on the ball in the fairway is as dumb as playing from sand filled divots.

munihack, all the more reason to lighten up on the water, make brown the new green

I thought part of the spirit of golf has always been to play the ball as it lies, no matter what - and take the good with the bad. The modern golfer expects every lie to be perfect and the ball to always be spotless. Pathetic.

A golf writer on twitter suggested this should be his go to excuse when he makes a bad swing. I promised my regular group to use do this off the tee at some point in the near future.

@BDF I agree- To me the "must be green to be good" management of golf courses is derivative of ANGC and their event in April every year. This approach has "trickled down" to my humble muni world and left me in mud ball pergatory. No one listens or cares as long as the course looks green.
