Video: Champions Challenge Recap, Arnold Palmer Interview

Before we get too deep into this Open Championship at St. Andrews, memories of Wednesday's Champion Golfer's Challenge should not be left too far behind in the rear view mirror. How lucky we were see Arnold Palmer hit what is possibly his last shot at St. Andrews, and witness Peter Thomson and Gary Player coming back one more time. Kudos to the R&A for having the event, presenting it with dignity and injecting a sense of celebration.

It's difficult not to get emotional watching Arnold Palmer's interview with ESPN's Tom Rinaldi afterwards. You can view it here.

Here is The Open official recap.

Kind of sad, really...remembering what a stud AP was well into his 60's and early 70's.
On a cheerier note both Bob Charles and Peter Thompson looked pretty good for 79 and 85.

Hard to watch. We all have our personal connections with Arnie.

Like those above; sad but so happy to have seen this fine human being in his prime and beyond.

As to the interview with Rinaldi, "you've got an awful lot of emotions running through you now, why?" 'Not the golf, the people'! And there are those who question why Arnie is the King of golf.

I remember the first time I saw him, at a Greater Jacksonville Open in about 1968. A thrill it was. As it has been every time since. As that scoreboard at Augusta put it during one of his charges some time ago, "Go Arnie!"

I must say, having never been a Tiger fan, it is nice to finally see him participate in something like this. And he looked to be somewhat enjoying himself!

Arnold Palmer was a big part of boosting the Open back to its current status.
They love him! Rightly so.
The king designed our hom course here in NJ... Always says hello down at bay hill. Class act

Arnnie knows he's in the 9th inning and getting very emotional with these nostalgic appearances.

I was saying to myself (Rinaldi, cut it short) and glad he did and didn't dig deeper with the questions as was very obvious Arnie was having a tough time.
