ShackHouse 40: Travelers, Rory, Phil/Bones, Gladwell, House Pod

With so much in the news House and I kick around a host of topics in this week's show, including the thrilling Travelers, Rory's putter lottery, the Phil/Bones split, Malcolm Gladwell's war on golf and news of House's new food podcast.

As always, you can subscribe on iTunes and or just refresh your device's podcast subscription page. (I'm an Overcast fan, still.)

Here is The Ringer's show page.

Same deal with Soundcloud for the show, and Episode 40 is here to listen to right now.

ShackHouse is brought to you by Callaway, makers of the Chrome Soft which still can be customized for free in the final days of June.

Get on it at CallawayGolf.com!

Agree w/ GS, you have to get fans around the greens if at all possible.

The Farmers ended with a hole out too but there's no comparison in the atmosphere after.

Here was Rahm's eagle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gq1OUYndHIg&feature=youtu.be

This was a very enjoyable podcast, I prefer the no-guest ones where Geoff and House trade opinions. I'm glad they took Gladwell to task here - as a prior fan of his, I was really disappointed in his Revisionist History podcast on LA golf clubs. Not so much for the stance he took as much as the approach he took to the argument, which as House and Geoff point out had so many things wrong with it, it was embarrassing.

Re: Gladwell

As a fan of Gladwell and Shackhouse and golf, this was conflicting. Gladwell usually provides fresh takes and interesting perspective so it was hard to listen when he led off saying "I hate golf." However, the only part I support of Gladwell's is the tax thing.

Pretty rediculous (and a somewhat accurate reflection of our society/politics) that a bunch of rich people can shape/influence politics and legislation to save themselves millions at the expense of others.

In conclusion, I love golf, Shackhouse and Gladwell and like Shack said- its good for these examinations (particularly from golf outsiders) to take place from time to time. Golf need not be insular and exempt from public scrutiny, despite what rich people (like House) say.
