Trump Properties Include (Fictional) Time Magazine Covers

The Washington Post's David Fahrenthold reports what any visitor to a Trump golf property knows: featured prominently on walls are framed magazine covers featuring the now-President.

What we visitors didn't know, however, is that some of the covers are not real.

Time Magazine is demanding that they be taken down in the wake of Fahrenthold's story.

The framed copy of Time magazine was hung up in at least five of President Trump’s clubs, from South Florida to Scotland. Filling the entire cover was a photo of Donald Trump.

“Donald Trump: The ‘Apprentice’ is a television smash!” the big headline said. Above the Time nameplate, there was another headline in all caps: “TRUMP IS HITTING ON ALL FRONTS . . . EVEN TV!”

This cover — dated March 1, 2009 — looks like an impressive memento from Trump’s pre-presidential career. To club members eating lunch, or golfers waiting for a pro-shop purchase, it seemed to be a signal that Trump had always been a man who mattered. Even when he was just a reality TV star, Trump was the kind of star who got a cover story in Time.

But that wasn’t true.

The spoofs are already rolling in...

I wonder if Time has legal grounds for litigation, I would think they have. Trump may say it's parody but it would be interesting.

C'mon Geoff, stick with golf. I read your site because it's a nice diversion from partisan, petty, Trump bashing.

Dear me -- could this be fake news?

Trump bashing doesn't have to be partisan. People all over the world, with all political affiliations, agree that he's an imbecile.

What. A. Tool. Several years ago when she was a (very) broke graduate student, Ghost Jr.'s sister "made" magazine covers as Christmas presents. She put a picture of me on Popular Science, Mrs. Ghost on Parenting, and Ghost Jr. on ESPN. They are hanging in the downstairs bathroom with other important awards, such as my 5-year service plaque at my current employer. What. A. Tool.

And this is a golf story. Trump is a very good golfer, winner of multitudes of club championships up and down the Eastern Seaboard! And owner of 5-10, depending on his daily mood, "Best Courses in the Whole Wide World!"

LOL, the scary part is there are still people who defend him.

How can any professional Tour hold a tournament at a golf club owned by the originator of the racist Birther movement?

Wait,
Trump and OJ are still looking for the 3 million illegal voters. Stand by, they may find 1k.
But everyone else is the problem.

I, for one, think it's pretty cool that the President is so proud of the souvenirs he got at my Bar Mitzvah.

All I have to add is that those tennis shorts remind me of a poem spoken in Caddyshack.

Geoff, not everyone sees your post as polemic. I do enjoy a bit of good humour! Thanks!

Ky nalis it.

the humor of the time magazine cover pales in comparison the the "club championships" Trump has won.

Give us a shot of the club champion board at Bedminster. THATS a parody!!!!

Keep catering to the Lefties Left Geoff - they are soon to be the last of your readers... I remember when you launched this site and it was truly about Golf. Now it reminds me of CNN. Just posting Trump stuff to try to get attention.

At least Donald just tries to market himself and his brand. Nothing wrong with a tongue in cheek Time cover.

Some people have to sell their brand or website by disparaging others that never even mentioned them.

Who could that be ?

Press Agent must absolutely be eating this up - full yet !!!
