Hmmm: Obama Lands In Monterey, Clubs In Tow

Purported to be in the Monterey Peninsula for the AT&T Leadership Conference coinciding with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, former president Barack Obama brought the sticks along. Just in case the Cypress Point invite comes. Or? Could he be a last minute pro-am fill-in?

Stephen Ellison reports for the Bay Area's NBC affiliate.

Would be pretty cool if he was a last minute fill in for the pro-am. The man has "it", whatever it happens to be.

Wouldn’t be any different from when he was president. Attend some phones baloney conference full of beard pullers, and play golf.

It is inspiring to see his dedication to reducing carbon emissions by taking such an efficient mode of transport. At least the clubs didn't get their own plane.

Yes, because this president has really knuckled down and avoided the golf course, right?

If St Andrews goes under water, see earlier post, he will be more responsible than the rest of us combined by a factor of 100X.

Are you sure that is #44? He worked for the government his entire life — how could Obama afford to fly on a private jet?

Now that I think about it I can't believe that the President Obama doesn't fly Southwest? What's he thinking?

Wonder if Condi is floating his name around for membership at ol' Augusta National Golf Club.

I hope he bought some carbon credits to offset the pollution he put out into the atmosphere.

I doubt he's headed to Pacific Grove Muni.

I miss that guy already!!!!
Convert, sounds like you’re imbibing the fake news from our fake President.

That would be a fun round of golf. I bet he doesn't play with "winter rules" for every errant shot.

D,

I expect writing three best sellers helped, but I could be wrong.

Always nice to see BrianS, who tries to play himself off as "Mr Non Partisan", who just can't help himself with a nasty comment. How should he get to Cali genius? Your hate, and the obvious other factor, is so apparent.

@Lema's Ghost
Come on now. You know if Obama didn't hate his country as much as he does, hadn't conspired since his conception about his true Kenyan citizenship, apparently stolen millions of $ while serving in the White House and didn't spend 2-3 days a week playing golf in Florida, he would have taken a Greyhound bus to Monterrey.

But NOOOOOO.......

For the trolls on here who are making noise about Obama flying on a private jet, consider what it would be like if he tried to fly commercial.

Every person on the plane would have to go through background checks. The Secret Service would be all over the plane and if anyone tried to create any incident it would make what United did to that one passenger look mild.

There is no escape route from a commercial jet at 39,000 feet so the Secret Service would never allow it.

So, even if he wanted to fly commercial he can't. Neither can Bush, Clinton, Bush or Carter (and probably some of the more recent VPs). Fortunately Trump won't have that problem since he has his own plane so when he is out of office he can fly himself, but I bet he'll still bill the government for the cost of flying the Secret Service with him.

Wouldn't it be great if Obama and Tiger played together! This place would light up the blogosphere!

Mini man nailed it.

Thanks Mini TOO. D: Obama MADE $20 million dollars from the bestselling books he wrote. You could have checked his tax returns and learned something unlike the current occupant who won't release his returns. So before President Obama collected his first big speaking check (like every ex-President) he has more than earned the ablility to fly private. If Obama invested his 20 million (most earned from 2008-2010) in a balanced portfolio he probably has 50 million from that fantastic U.S. economy recovery he managed from 2010 to 2016. Logic and facts are FUN!

Guys - lighten up already. Of course he flys private- anyone in his spot would. Just a little joshing here.
