Hazeltine Passes, Windsong Farms Ready

Tad Reeve confirms that Hazeltine National has no interest in the tournament formerly known as the Western, making the every-other-year-move out of Chicago look that much worse.

Isn't Interlachen near there? Oh, never mind.

LMAO........Finchem's "FECES" is getting better by the week. This fool is making decisions on the run which obviously have no confirmations. He shuts down a tournament's 100 plus year history (Western), says he's taking it to better golf courses every other year, Hazeltine National says thanks, but no thanks.......somebody call up MasterCard......we are witnessing a priceless moment.

Ryan,

The Western was played everywhere from Pittsburgh, PA to Portland Oregon between 1899 to 1961. There were only about 16 times in that period that it was played in Illinois. From 1962 on, it has been in the Chicago area, but to say that 100 years of history is being ignored is wrong. If anything, history was ignored in 1962 when it moved to Chicago permanently and is now being restored to its traditions (assuming they can find courses.)

I'm not surprised that Hazeltine would turn it down, they still want to have PGAs and US Opens and they have the US Amateur this year.

I am mad about Finchem letting BMW rename the tournament so that it does lose its history and I've written BMW to let them know that. I even got a reply.

What did BMW say?

We're ponying up the cash, so we'll name the tournament whatever we want??

What's the vibe on Windsong Farms? The aerial on Google Maps looks intriguing, but the design team of Tom Lehman and John Fought is a turn-off to me.

I don't know Lefty, I like their effort in the West Valley called the Raven at Verrado. Nice course, and one of the best deals (unlimited golf + food for a decent price). I've also heard nice things about the course in Tucson where they're going to play the Match Play next year.
