"It would suck to have to come out at 8 and we've got a 10:45."

At the 6 p.m reset with music and Jim Nantz waxing on about day one, the crane shot captures Phil Mickelson crossing the bridge, setting up Nantz to ask us to consider all of the greats who have crossed the Hogan Bridge. The music was turned down and as Phil's crossing, he's deep in conversation with Bones and says: "It would suck to have to come out at 8 and we've got a 10:45."

So I think it's safe to say Phil wants to finish the round today.

I heard that too, Geoff and immediately thought of our friends at Sennheiser and their wonderful new microphones. Sucks.

more importantly, has Jim Nantz run his course? the gloss is just too much.

Phil - just set your wingtips in front of your TV - one hour of Nantz and they are mirror polished.

New e-mail memo from ANGC to its television partners: "Going forward all 'beauty' shots (crane shots) will have the mics muted and/or generic background sound/music overlaid."

I renamed the mute button on my remote "Nance." His puff-puff comments are only to draw attention away from his comb-over.

At long last, some Nantz bashing! What the heck took everyone so long? If I were Nick Faldo, I'd want to throttle Nantz if I had to sit there and look at the faces he must make trying to randomly make his voice deeper and vary his pace. He even holds 'notes' on certain words like a bloody singer.

I used to think he had problems speaking at a regular pace because he was listening to the producers through his headphones. I'm now certain that his style of speech is all part of the Masters act (if he tried to talk like that while calling a b-ball game, he'd be lost).

Anyone remember when PJ Carlesimo used to work halftime shows/do commentary during basketball games? He used to make the wildest faces while talking - it was like he was yelling, but his words came out at regular volume. That's how I picture Nantz, exaggerating every word in order to get it to sound Augusta enough.

if the announcing gig doesn't work out for Nance he's got a future as a Wall St. analyst...

...mgmt teams and investment bankers would love him -- it's all good, all the time.

Phil's tee time today is actually 10:34 not 10:45, I hope he's not going to show up late.
