Stunner: Casey Stunned That Monty Has Been Monty!

James Corrigan reports that Paul Casey has not only never talked to Colin Montgomerie about his Ryder Cup snub--"I think there's a voice mail somewhere"--but that Monty has been avoiding Casey even in his post-Cup glow.

Casey then revealed that he had expected Montgomerie to seek him out at a pro-am dinner in Shanghai four weeks ago, particularly as the Scot had not only informed the press of his intention but also texted Casey that day. "I saw him there, but then he was gone," said Casey. "He knew where to find me."

When asked if it was strange that they had been at the same function and Montgomerie had failed to make contact, Casey replied with more than a hint of bewilderment. "We also have the same manager," he said.

Perhaps Montgomerie's latest snub is just as well, as it is doubtful Casey would have agreed with his explanation for looking to others at Celtic Manor. Montgomerie cited Casey's unsuitability to the foursomes format, saying it would have "limited his role". That viewpoint plainly baffles, if not angers, Casey.

"I've only lost two foursomes and one of those was against Tiger [Woods] and the other time was when I played with Henrik [Stenson] when we just didn't gel," said the three-times Ryder Cup player. "Otherwise my record with David Howell and Luke [Donald] is 100 per cent. When we won the 2004 World Cup in Seville, Luke and I scored better in the foursomes than in the fourballs, shooting 64-64. So me not being very good at foursomes is nonsense."

There was only ever going to be room for one mega ego on that team!
You didnt get picked. You probably should have done.Harrington was very lucky.
The Ryder Cup was weeks ago.Now get over it and make sure you play yourself into the team next time.

If Casey is asked about it he has every right to answer. Casey has always been classy about the situation despite the fact that Monty picked Paddy and Molinari on much weaker grounds.

From a pure sporting perspective the Harrington pick was, to my mind, the most irrational and dare I say it, stupidest, in the history of the Ryder Cup. Monty was lucky that it did work out as well as it did, because it sure wasn't Harrington who won the points in the matches he played.

I used to have a feeling that maybe, just maybe, there had been some Irish-lobbying to get Harrington on the team, but probably not because everybody on the team wants to win the Cup.

That leaves only one possibility: that picking Harrington was an attempt from Monty to help Harrington get his career going again, sort of the same chance that Monty once was given. A very nice gesture and understandable in many respects, but a decision that almost cost us the Ryder Cup.

Maybe their Manager can set up an "appointment" for them to get together?. . . A pay per view could generate some nice money and much more if the undercard included a couple of Monty's ladies. . . I, of course, think Casey could take Monty fairly easily - unless Monty is able to get on top and smother him with flesh much mushier than a professional athlete should have.

Quit whining Casey it's over and Europe won....make next team by making statement in majors, don't fade in final round like you did at Br. Open.

What's the name of joint manager, Guy Kinnings? He must be pretty hopeless letting his clients squabble like this. Can't see it happening with the affable Chubby!!

Similar article in today's Guardian - Casey saying that the way he heard about who was in and who was out - on course with Harrington in New Jersey, almost make him puke. "Definitely need to change the way the announcements are made." This is a fair point. Still not a Casey fan, however. His 2008 performance was, as they say, ' just mailing it in.'

Also, how about that Dubai tournament - top five of Poulter, Fisher, Westwood, Casey and Kaymer - all within 2 shots. Kaymer goes no. 1 with a win and a Westwood fold special.

Monty owes Casey nothing. Bottom line is Casey just didn't fit in with the team concept. He was a divisive force in the locker room. Don't want him, don't need him.

I like Monty, but I like Casey too......

Casey isn't whining: he was asked.

Both these guys should be cut some slack. At least they actually answer questions. Do you want Casy to anwer with 'It is What it Is?"

BTW I also have 100% win record, excluding my losses. Now THAT is positive thinking/spin!!!!

Big Jack has never missed a putt in his own mind and I thought I was wrong once, but it turned out I was mistaken...

Anyway, Casey seems to have responded to the reporter, and if we keep this up pk(bftd) will show up soon to set us straight. Back to golf. Our English friend, Tim in Hoylake, is right. The Road to Dubai has taken an interesting turn with that leaderboard. Might have to watch.
A leaderboard Tim Finchem can only dream about!

Speaking of Finchem and his number one money maker in 2010, a photo of Furyk has surfaced.......

Gotta love the Brit press for stoking the smoldering coals of a Cup won.

Why would Monty seek Casey out to tell him he wasn't picked because nobody likes him?

nice

Given the whiny remarks we have heard from Casey and Monty about golf fans and people in general in the the good old U.S. of A. over the years, they should settle this like all other mean 6th grade girls, tease each other into an eating disorder.

P.S. Both of you stop strutting around like either of you have ever won anything that matters.

Sorry, but I don't get the Casey bashing. Monty is supposed to be this valiant leader and he's running from Casey like a little girl? Pathetic. Man up Monty!
