Video: Body Slammee Is An Evans Scholar

Now America, let's not overreact and revoke a scholarship because he's stupid, perhaps drunk and a former caddy, but thanks to reader Kevin for noticing that Saturday's gone-viral recipient of a tremendous body slam tackle is an Evans Scholar!

Henry Molski's report on Anthony Schlegel, Ohio State Strength and Conditioning coach, with one of the better handlings of a fan rushing the field.

Not my favorite angle but it gets the job done...so enjoyable!

Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

The strength and conditioning coach is about the last guy you want to have a physical altercation with.

I know the popular thing to do is take great delight in the kid getting slammed to the turf. But it's clear from the video that a stadium security guy was on it and there was no need for a former Ohio State linebacker who is now the strength coach to overpower some skinny frat kid.Schlegel is not law enforcement, that field is not his private property and if I were the kids parents I'd be interviewing lawyers right now. Was the kid dumb? Absolutely. But his offense didn't rise to the level of the physical abuse he took at the hands of a coach who should have kept his ass on the sideline and let security or the cops take care of the situation.

@Garry Smits

Agreed. Plus it was a crappy tackle. You've got to go in lower.

Horse-collar tackle. 15 yards!

I agree with Garry, hope the kid gets rich off him.

Wonder what he would have done to Charlie Bauman? A little over the top with the body slam there, Nimrod.

I have no real idea of the legal position, but that looked a bit over-the-top to me.

Big sober guys filled with testosterone beating on smaller guys just filled with beer bravado...always seems to bring out the bully.

The Ohio State University better hope no concussion resulted from that... certainly not that in this day and age in football.

If the 'kid' was a fully padded 6'4" 230 lb QB in or out of the pocket, that's an easy 15 yd penalty on the defense.

Mike Curtis likely approves.

Ohio State pulling the kids' scholarship.

What's wrong with saying "son, that was really dumb, please don't do it again and if you won't sue us we won't screw you"...??

@DTF, he's losing his scholarship but isn't it the WGA/Evans Scholar Foundation rather than tOSU that's pulling it?

Good point Carl. According to a post in the newer thread the kid is still on scholarship but can't participate in Evans Scholar activities...maybe he's relieved?!
