Bubba Has Had A Hall Of Fame Career, By Some Standards

With two majors--both Masters--and a career total of ten wins, he's moved into World Golf Hall of Fame status in the Monty/Freddie era where standards changed. Matt Adams and I discuss on Golf Central's Alternate Shot...

Did I catch that right...only 49 players have 10 or more wins?? That's some pretty stout company...especially with 2 Masters.

Bubba gets additional kudos just by the way he manages to shape a Pro V1x around tight tree-lined courses. You may not like his ADHD antics, but the truth is he's one of the few players that when you watch him hit a ball, you go ''Wow!!'.

@Marmooskapaul - At this point 101 players in PGA Tour history have 10 or more wins.

Sorry 115 players with 10 or more wins currently in PGA Tour History.

He passes the "would I stop in front of his plaque and tell my kid a story?" test for sure, even though he's not always a Hall of Fame human being.

The debate for Hall of Fame inclusion, in all sports-not just golf, starts earlier and earlier in players' careers. Can't we let these careers play out and then decide? Heard some NBA analysts already asking if guys like Damian Lillard & Klay Thompson will one day be in the Hall.

Only 37 players with 20 wins surprised me. 57 players have made it to 16, 48 have made it to 18, 37 have made it to 20, and only 28 have made it to 22.

Only 13 players in the last 50 years have made it to 20 wins. Sanders, Player and Trevino in the 1970's; Watson, Miller and Floyd in the 1980's; Wadkins, Irwin and Floyd in the 1990's; and since 1997 only 4: Woods (2000), Mickelson (2002), Singh (2004) and Love (2008).

That's 13 in the past 50 years. With only 2 or 3 players every decade getting to 20 wins, I'd say it's hard not to lower the standard to something more Couples-ish.

Of course making it "winning a 19th" instead of "winning a 20th" makes it almost one more decade, as now you have Green, Kite, Crenshaw and Els, making it 17 in the past 50 years instead of 13.
